THE fire service investigating a blaze that started in a disabled boy's bedroom has updated its findings.
Previously, Hereford and Worcester Fire Service outlined that a house fire on Peel Street, Kidderminster, in February was most likely caused by a fault in an Amazon Echo Show 5 device.
The service has now confirmed in a subsequent review that the fire was most likely caused by "overheating," possibly from the device being covered by an item of clothing.
A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire Service said: "The initial determination of ‘most likely cause’ was ‘fault in equipment’, based on the visual scene observation.
"Following subsequent routine peer review and further research/liaison with the manufacturer, the determination of ‘most likely cause’ was changed to ‘overheating’ (likely to have been from the electrical item being covered in clothing)".
The service also confirmed that there is no product recalls for the Amazon device.
