Malvern's male voice choir will be holding a concert to celebrate its 100-year anniversary.

The group will be returning to perform in Malvern Wells, where the choir began its life as a quartet in 1922.

By 1926, the group had nearly 30 members which are around the same amount of members that the group has today.

The concert will take place on Saturday, July 2 starting at 7.30pm and will be held at All Saints' Church on Wells Road.

There will be a guest soloist named John Swindells who will be playing the Church's historic organ as part of the performance 112 years after its installation.

A spokesperson from Malvern's male voice choir said: "Malvern Male Voice Choir’s hugely successful first one hundredth anniversary concert was staged in Malvern Priory in early June with local ladies choir Sabrina Voices.

"The concert on the first Saturday in July will offer a very contrasting programme.  To recognise the choir’s original quartet formation, some members have formed an Octet just for the occasion and will be performing some entertaining songs to complement the big sound of the full choir."

Tickets are free for any attendees under the age of 18 and there will be light refreshments.

Profits from the concert, which is part of “Midsummer Malvern” Civic Week, will benefit the Citizens’ Advice Bureau, Malvern Food Bank and Megan’s Kitchen.
