Amid the current cost of living crisis, the price of a popular brand of butter has shot up to £5.
People have taken to Twitter to complain about the rise in the cost to buy Lurpak spread.
In the Sainbsury's on Windermere Drive, a 500g pack of the spread costs £5 exactly.
At the Tesco in Warndon Villages, it currently costs £4.49 as part of an Aldi price match deal.
In Waitrose, Lurpak is currently on offer for £3.75.
One person said: "Part of my job is to put the new labels out on supermarket shelves.
"There are some shocking increases.
"The worse one: Lurpak spread from £3.80 to £5.05."
Another person said: "Go to Aldi. Their Norpak spread is legendary, and under two quid."
One person tweeted: "Anchor Butter up a £1 in one week.
"Lots of Price hikes evident. Pretty much feels like greed versus need and is starting to make life miserable for the many.
"It must be short-term opportunity being exploited as once Folk become anxious they will cut back on everything to get by. Crazy."
A Twitter user added: "I buy whichever butter is cheapest that week.
"It was Anchor last at £1.75. I have though started buying vitalite for sandwiches and some baking.
"I'm waiting to see what happens when wheat prices bite.
"Fresh fruit and veg have gone up less than meat so I've just cut out meat."
