FIREFIGHTERS rushed out to battle a blaze at a pub this morning (Thursday, July 21).
Crews from Wyre Forest, Cleobury Mortimer and Bridgnorth and more responded to a fire at The Ship Inn at Highley.
Bridgnorth Fire Station posted on Facebook: "A rapid spreading fire was seen which had affected the external decking area and the front extension of the pub.
"Due to rapid actions of the crews, the fire was stopped from entering the main area of the public.
"Water was sourced from the river using our lightweight Portable Pump to supply the fire ground".
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a fire at the Ship Inn on Severnside at 5.44am and sent two paramedic officers and a BASICS doctor to the scene.
"However, on arrival it was discovered there were no patients and we were stood down".
