MP Mark Garnier has said he's "glad this period of uncertainty has finally come to an end" after Liz Truss was announced as the new Prime Minister.
The Wyre Forest MP backed Rishi Sunak in the Tory leadership race and said he was “absolutely convinced” that the former Chancellor of the Exchequer’s plan for the economy is the "right one for Britain”.
Reacting to Liz Truss's victory, Mr Garnier said: “We have had a long campaign, between two excellent candidates, to be leader of the Conservative Party and our next prime minister.
"Liz Truss has won and I look forward to getting behind her with her ambitions for the country.
"I am pleased that this period of uncertainty has finally come to an end, especially when there is so much bad news and so many problems facing our communities and households.
"It is good to have some proper leadership.”
