YOUNGSTERS helped shoppers celebrate St George's Day when they displayed their artwork in a Kidderminster supermarket.

Pupils of St Mary's CE Primary School got together with Sainsbury's for the celebration.

The school's key stage one class created artwork, including a colourful dragon and a large St George, complete with his shield and a horse, for the three-day display.

The youngsters worked in groups for the week-long project and their work was displayed at the front of the store.

Shelley Reeves-Walters, head of key stage one at the school, said: "The children examined the history of St George and looked at famous images from the story.

"They are really proud of their work and have become very patriotic since the project.

"Shoppers remarked on how wonderful it was."

The children were given a celebration cake for their hard work.
