A PUB near Kidderminster is set to close whilst it undergoes a major six-figure refurbishment.

The investment will see the Mare and Colt in Summerfield, Hartlebury, transformed inside and out providing guests with a more modern country pub setting.

The garden space will be expanded significantly, with part of the car park being converted to increase the capacity by 130 covers.

The external work will also include two heated pergola areas, allowing guests to experience al fresco dining all year round.

Internally, the layout of the pub area is being remodelled, opening up the bar area to give guests more space to enjoy a casual drink by the open fire. The restaurant area of the pub will also increase in covers as a result.

The entire pub is being revamped from top to bottom, including new flooring, furniture and furnishings to provide a more cosy, warm setting for guests. Partitions are also being included to facilitate private dining and events, such as weddings and birthdays.

Andrew Colley, general m of Mare & Colt said: “It’s an exciting time for the team here at Mare & Colt; we can’t wait to see the end result of the refurbishments for our guests, both old and new, to enjoy.

“The changes inside will give our guests a more modern setting to enjoy our premium food and drink offering, while the expansions being made to the garden area will completely transform the space and enable us to give our guests a fresh and exciting reason to visit, which is terrific.”

The Mare & Colt, which is part of the Chef and Brewer Collection of country pubs, will close on Monday, November 7 and will reopen on Monday, December 12.
