WOMEN from the Woodlands residential caravan park park near Bewdley are hoping that the light of the moon will guide them on a midnight walk on midsummer's evening.

They decided to take part in the walk on Saturday, June 21 to raise funds to support the work of Kemp Hospice, and to enjoy a night out together.

Karen Phillips said: "You never know when you may need the help of the hospice, we are doing our bit to support Kemp now."

The women live in a beautiful location with the forest surrounding them, often with deer popping into their gardens at night time.

Linda Lewis said: "Often we take things for granted such as our surroundings or our health.

"At some point along the walk each of the women will reflect on why they are taking part in the walk, and it will be a special moment".

Beth Jackson, hospice fundraiser said: "Residents at the Woodlands have been committed supporters of Kemp over many years. We are thrilled that so many of the women there are joining us for this magical walk."

The women are hoping to raise approximately £900 in sponsorship and are grateful to their friends and family for supporting them.

More than 250 women have now registered to take part in the event which starts at the the Forestry Commission's Visitor Centre at Callow Hill and takes a five-mile route through the paths of the Wyre Forest.

Different reasons may have prompted women to take part in the walk, such as to remember a loved one or to celebrate a recovery from illness, but everybody has a common aim to support the work of Kemp which provides specialist care for those with life-threatening illnesses in the district.

Places are still available for the walk which sets off at the strike of midnight.
