A PLAN to build four new bungalows at the site of a pub in Chaddesley Corbett has been given the thumbs up.

A planning application was submitted for a terrace of three bungalows, with a detached two-bed bungalow, on land to the rear of The Talbot Inn.

The site forms part of the previous beer garden at the pub, which has become underused according to the planning application.

The bungalows would be accessed from the existing side vehicle access to the side of The Talbot Inn, but would be set apart from the retained car park serving the restaurant.

A planning application was previously lodged for five new bungalows at the site. Although the plan was supported by Chaddesley Corbett Parish Council, Worcestershire Highways authority raised safety concerns around access for pedestrians, cyclists and vulnerable road users. The planning application was subsequently refused by Wyre Forest District Council.

The successful planning application was lodged in November last year.

The planning statement said: "The benefits of the proposals are numerous and include the contribution the proposed dwellings would make to the current housing land supply position, in particular the identified local housing needs shortfall for owner occupied bungalows".
