A FISHERMAN has shared his shock after he was shot in the head whilst out angling near Kidderminster.

Timothy Williams, aged 61, said he "saw stars" after the attack which happened at Winterfold Farm pools.

A ball bearing slammed into the side of his head, which was possibly shot out of a BB gun, according to West Mercia Police.

Mr Williams, who was wearing a thick cap at the time, described it as "extremely painful" and later suffered a concussion.

He said: "On a scale of one to ten (the pain) was about eleven".

Mr Williams, from Stourbridge, was out fishing on his own on Sunday, February 26, when he heard two "crack" noises.

He was then hit on the left side of his head and rushed to a safe area before calling police.

Mr Williams said: "I don't know what was happening when it happened. I saw these two figures run off giggling".

He fears he could have been blinded had the ball bearing hit him near the eye.

"I could have been quite seriously hurt," he added.

He also expressed concern for students at the nearby Winterfold School following the attack.

Mr Williams has also complained to police for not checking up on him after the incident.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "At around 08.55am on Sunday 26 February we received a report from Mr Williams reporting he had been hit by a ball bearing from a BB gun.

"He did not know where this had come from and mentioned the nearby rifle range which was closed.

"The incident was graded for priority attendance by officers by our control room.

"However police received a call from Mr Williams saying he was going home prior to police attending and an appointment was booked with him to attend Kidderminster police station to record a criminal offence of assault".
