TWO young Stourport runners are the toast of their school after cross country success at district and county, with one of the girls earning a place in the national finals.

St Bartholomew’s CE Primary School pupils Darcie Lees and Molly Foster, both aged 10, have been competing through school for more than two years.

Darcie finished 3rd in the Wyre Forest Schools Sports Partnership cross country run and 3rd in the county competition and is now looking forward to representing Worcestershire in the national finals in Leicestershire later this month.

Molly took 5th place in the district run and came 19th out of 60 runners at the county event.

Ian James, headteacher, said: “It’s great to see the girls both enjoying and excelling in their chosen sport and for Darcie to earn a place in the finals is the icing on the cake.

“We are very proud of their achievements and look forward to further success for them.”
