A BEWDLEY mum-of-two who runs a café says she is "honoured" to become the town's new mayor.
Councillor Sarah Billett has become the mayor for the upcoming year and is supported by her niece Izzy Horton as consort.
The 35-year-year-old, who is the mother of two-year-old Audrey and an eight-week-old Mabel, runs the Garden Kitchen cafe at Bewdley Museum.
Councillor Emily Bourne was also elected as deputy mayor for the coming year.
Councillor Billett said: "I was honoured to be considered and then voted for by my fellow councillors, especially because I'm a breastfeeding mother.
"I feel like people are on my side. They are really supporting me - it's lovely.
"It's good to see the women in all the different positions supporting each other as well. We've got lots of women on the council this year.
"I want women to know they can have it all".
She said she is looking forward to attending town events including Bewdley Carnival later this month.
She has chosen to support the William Mills Foundation, a charity which supports young people in Bewdley and across Worcestershire by removing the barriers that prevent them from reaching their potential.
The charity has also been instrumental in the reopening of a Youth Centre in Bewdley.
