CCTV footage has been shared of the moment a charity box was stolen during a shop raid in the early hours.

A sentimental stained glass window was smashed in the raid, which happened at Bewdley Farm Shop in the early hours of the morning (Saturday, December 16).

Tony Thompson, the owner of the Dog Lane shop, has said the break-in has caused around £3,000 worth of damage.

The front door window featured a pane of stained glass which was made for the shop 35 years ago.

A charity box which collected funds for Kidderminster's KEMP Hospice was stolen during the raid.

Mr Thompson said: "Anybody that violates your property, it puts a lot of bitterness into your mouth.

"I'm more upset about the stained glass window and them taking the KEMP Hospice box which obviously brings them to a new low.

"It's a stained glass window that we commissioned about 35 years ago. It's smashed to smithereens.

"I would say it's got to be around £3,000 worth of damage".

He said the shop was previously burgled around four years ago and the window was smashed then back then.

But he said he wasn't sure if it could be restored this time around.

Today's break-in, which happened around 2.55am, disrupted fruit and vegetable deliveries in the morning.

Mr Thompson added: "This is one of our busiest periods. We supply to a lot of local residents and businesses, pubs, clubs and restaurants in Bewdley and Worcestershire".

Mr Thompson contacted West Mercia Police following the incident, and said officers arrived at the scene "within minutes."

He thanked them as well as customers for their messages of support following the break-in.

The Shuttle has contacted West Mercia Police for comment.
