Get ready for an unforgettable adventure this panto season as a twist on a much-loved classic comes to Wolverley.

Amateur dramatic group, Wolverley Village Players, are set to perform their latest show 'The Wolverley Wizard that Woz!' in a special production celebrating their tenth anniversary.

The well-known tale of Dorothy and her pooch Toto gets a new twist in this panto as Dorothy finds herself in Wolverleyshire in a specially written version of the play.

In this story, the Good Witch's red shoes are replaced by rainbow Doc Martins and the Munchkins are Bumpkins as the group prepares to take the audience on a home-grown adventure.

A spokesperson for the Wolverley Village Players said: "This show will be the tenth-anniversary show for the group and follows the success of last year’s production which saw us return after a Covid-enforced break.

"Jack and the Beanstalk was performed over five shows to sell out audiences over the weekend and received great reviews.

This is the tenth production by the Players and this year the show sees a new director, Leigh Salter, taking charge.

A founding member of the group, the director is said to have great circus skills and certainly knows how to entertain.

The pantomime has also been written by a local writing team and features a lot of great songs from a live band with audience participation encouraged throughout the family-friendly show.

The performance will take place in Wolverley Memorial Hall on Wednesday, January 24 and Saturday, January 27 at 7.30pm with a Saturday Matinee at 2pm.
