NEW plans for a historic building that was previously home to a Frankie and Benny's restaurant have been revealed.

The former restaurant, at the Pump House at Weaver's Wharf in Kidderminster, permanently closed in 2020 after owners deemed the branch to be "not financially viable".

Now, planning applications have been lodged seeking to divide the building into two new units for a tanning salon and a new restaurant/ takeaway.

The plans, which have been submitted to Wyre Forest District Council, have been put forward by LCP Retail Limited.

The company has submitted a full planning application for the subdivision of commercial premises into two units, as well as a listed building consent application.

The national commercial property and investment company, part of M Core, purchased Weaver's Wharf last year. The new investors said they want to attract good-quality brands to the retail park and boost jobs.

James Barker, Kidderminster BID leader, has said the new plans are a sign that the town is "definitely on the up."

He said: "It's showing that the economy here is gearing back up".

The businesses moving into the Pump House have yet to be confirmed.

The new applications can be viewed via the Wyre Forest District Council planning website searching the references 23/0923/FUL and 23/0924/LBC.
