HEAVY rain has hit the region this morning (Wednesday, February 21) with more forecast this week.

The Met Office said people can expect periods of heavy rain this morning in the West Midlands, with this easing off in the afternoon.

The Met Office said: "A wet and windy morning with periods of heavy rain.

"The rain will ease by lunchtime and it will turn brighter through this afternoon. Winds easing but staying breezy. Another very mild day for February. Maximum temperature 13 °C".

Tonight is forecast to be "mostly dry" with a chance of of showers or longer spells possible in the early hours.

They said some heavy and squally downpours are possible by the morning.

On Thursday, the Met Office predicts bands of showers sweeping eastwards, with some sunny spells by the afternoon.

But on Friday and Saturday, the weather is looking “rather unsettled” with bright intervals and scattered showers, which could be heavy at times.
