A PLAN to build new industrial units at the site of an old plant nursery site has been given the thumbs up.

The former Alton Nurseries site at Long Bank in Bewdley, which has fallen into "severe" disrepair, is set to be transformed into four commercial units for businesses, with car parking.

It follows an earlier planning approval last year, which sought to demolish greenhouses and buildings to make way for the commercial units.

An updated scheme, with modifications being made to "enhance the building's marketability", was approved by Wyre Forest District Council earlier this week.

Applicant B Price Ltd hopes to the development "positively contribute to the local area" and retain and create "highly skilled jobs within the borough."

At a meeting of the council’s planning committee this week, councillor David Little brought forward a motion for approval, which was seconded by councillor Chris Rogers.

Councillor Rogers said: "It's a site that's looked sad and sorry for such an awful long time and it would be great to see it brought back into use".
