THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised to give a "well-loved" man the "send-off he deserves."

Tributes have been pouring in for "true gentleman" Terry Savage, who was found dead in his Kidderminster home last month aged 43.

His niece Amie Hyde, who described him as a "big friendly giant," started a GoFundMe page to raise money for funeral costs.

She said: “He was loved and known by many and had a heart as big as he is, he was a big softy at heart and his character was undeniable.

"He’ll be sadly missed and the donations have already made a massive difference in being able to pay for the funeral services for the family.”

She added that he will also be missed by his three sisters Jacqui, Carol and Kerrie, brothers Keith and Mark, and his nieces and nephews.

Mrs Hyde's appeal has raised more than £4000, which will go towards paying for his funeral and all expenses.

Mr Savage's funeral will take place later this month on Thursday, March 28.

The funeral procession will leave from Mr Savage's home at 4 Coronation Way at 3.15pm before heading to Wyre Forest Crematorium for the service at 4pm.

A month before Mr Savage passed away, an act of arson was carried out at his home, which was vacant at the time.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Enquiries were carried out into an arson that happened on 21 January at a property on Coronation Way in Kidderminster, however, no arrests have been made.

In a separate statement, the force added: "We received a call around 10.15am on Tuesday 20 February with the concern for the welfare of somebody in a property on Coronation Way in Kidderminster.

"Officers attended the property and sadly a man in his 40’s was found dead.

"The death was not treated as suspicious and there was no third-party involvement".
