MORE than a hundred cake lovers eagerly queued to get their hands on a treat from a popular bakery which returned for a "one-day flash opening".

Bewdley residents were delighted to see Kimmy Loves Cake on Load Street reopen on Saturday (March 16), which was closed shortly after Christmas.

There were several cakes and treats on the menu, including caramel shortbread, Mini Egg cookie bars, Oreo cheesecake cookie bars, cinnamon roll blondies and caramel apple cake.

Bakery owner Kim Hall said she was "completely overwhelmed" by the reaction on the day, with the shop selling out of baked goods within a couple of hours.

She said: "I’d had sleepless nights running up to it worrying that nobody would come.

"I had no idea how much to bake for it, I decided to hope for the best and made double what we used to sell on a good Saturday expecting to have some left over at the end of the day.

"To have 100 plus people patiently queuing was amazing, I just felt terrible when I realised that I hadn’t baked enough and not everyone would get some cake. We sold out in two hours.

"It was so nice to see all my regular customers again".

The 38-year-old said she previously decided to close her shop just after Christmas to "re-evaluate" her life

She said: "Although the business was doing really well, I felt trapped and completely overwhelmed.

"I wasn’t happy so I needed to re-evaluate my life, put my health and mine and my family’s happiness first".

However, it's not the end of the bakery with more pop-up events in the pipeline.

Kim added: "I will definitely be doing more pop-ups soon and I’m working on the long-term future of Kimmy Loves Cake".
