A PLAN to transform a building once home to a fire station into a veterinary practice has been revealed.

Bay Tree Vets is seeking to move from their current site at Mitton Gardens in Stourport to open a new, larger practice on Mitton Street in Stourport.

An application was submitted to Wyre Forest District Council for consideration earlier this month.

The planning statement outlines that the application site, currently known as Rotary House, is occupied by Rotary Printers, which provides printing services to businesses. The company has said they are looking to relocate to larger offices locally.

It was previously the site of an old fire station in the town.

According to the statement: “This change of use application seeks consent for the re-purpose of the existing building with very little modification; the site will continue to offer ‘economic vibrancy’ for Stourport-on-Severn and the wider district”.

Vets owner Laura Taylor said: “We have been very popular over the last four years because we are an independent practice. That’s the hope, to move into a bigger premises.

“It means that we can increase the number of consult rooms and have a bigger waiting room. Also just better ward facilities.

“The aim is we can continue providing even more services.

“I think the main thing is it’s going to stay an independent practice. This is a local business owned by someone local”.
