A CAT was dumped near a skip in Kidderminster in the early hours - prompting police to put out an appeal.

The black cat with white paws, wearing a pink collar, was left in a cat carrier near a skip on Comberton Hill at 2am this morning (Sunday April 7).

Police are appealing for anyone who knows who dumped the cat, which is with police, who are hoping to hand it to a rescue.

PCSO Kate Easthope put out an appeal on West Mercia Police's neighbourhood matters system.

She said: "At approximately 2am this morning we were made aware of someone dumping a black cat in a cat carrier near to a skip on Comberton Hill.

"The cat is all black, with white paws and has a pink collar.

"We have the cat here at the police station, and are making enquiries with a view to handing the cat over to a re-homing centre.

"If you have any knowledge of this, please let us know by calling 101 thank you."
