Police say they have seized weapons and containers full of cannabis from a shop in Kidderminster.

West Mercia Police said the containers filled with cannabis and tobacco products, together with weapons, are being forensically examined following a raid on Smokey Joe's in the Swan Centre.

The raid happened yesterday (Thursday, April 11) when West Mercia Police executed a warrant.

A man, aged 31, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis after the Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) and the Neighbourhood Crime Fighting Team (NCFT) swooped in on the store.

The arrested man has been released under investigation.

Police Constable Derya Mustafa of Kidderminster SNT said: “We executed a warrant on Smokey Joe’s yesterday morning with NCFT following intelligence and community concerns around the illegal use of cannabis.

“We believe the shop has been advertising its services as a ‘medicinal cannabis consumption lounge’ however possessing cannabis is illegal, whatever you're using it for. That includes medical use of cannabis products unless these have been prescribed for you.

“We arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis who was later released under investigation.

“Anyone who is concerned about the illegal use of drugs can report concerns online via the West Mercia Police website.

“Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers."
