A veterinary practice in Kidderminster has helped reunite a cat with his family after he went missing 109 miles away from home.

Owner Sarah Wilson, who lives in Merseyside, let Fraggles out with her other cats before work as normal back in February.

Despite her three cats always coming back in before she leaves, Fraggles was nowhere to be seen and did not return that night.

She said: "I was heartbroken. Blanco, his brother, was looking for him all the time. I felt sick."

Ms Wilson put out an appeal on Facebook a few days later and started hanging up posters in her local area.

After starting to think she would never see him again, she got a surprise call from Vets for Pets in Kidderminster which is 109 miles away from her home.

Vet Nurse Sally Prior said: "A local woman had seen Fraggles hanging around for two or three weeks. She could see he was clearly really well cared so she brought him into the vets where we were able to get his owner's details from his microchip as they were kept up to date.

"He's a really friendly and happy cat. Possibly too friendly and curious if that's how he got himself in trouble and stowed himself away somewhere. He's a very lucky cat."

Ms Wilson said: "I was overjoyed when I got the call. I asked where Kidderminster was and she said it was the other side of Birmingham. How he got here I'll never know.

"I'm so grateful for everyone involved. When we got home Fraggles just wanted to get on my knee and cuddle up."

It is believed Fraggles stowed away somewhere and was accidentally transported to the town.

Vets for Pets has since put together a little postcard of five local attractions in Kidderminster that Fraggles might have visited on his travels.

A Vets for Pets spokesperson said: "At Vets for Pets, we are thrilled that Fraggles has been happily reunited with his owner after three weeks missing from home.

"Fraggles was brought into the Kidderminster practice where the team were able to successfully retrieve his owner's details from his microchip, which had been importantly kept up to date.

"The owner was then contacted and we are delighted that Fraggles has finally returned home 109 miles away in Merseyside."
