Opticians in Kidderminster spoke to pupils during a college careers fair to discuss job prospects.

The teams from Specsavers shops at The Swan Centre and Sainsbury's attended the fair by Baxter College on May 7 where they shared about the prospect of completing their apprenticeship scheme.

The apprenticeship is open to anyone over the age of 16.

Both stores are also hiring new team members for their apprenticeship scheme, part-time optical assistant, and administration centre positions.

Optical or retail experience is not required as full training will be provided.

Emma Singh, store director at both Specsavers stores in Kidderminster, said: "We absolutely loved talking to the pupils from Baxter College about their future career options and progression.

"The fair was a great opportunity to talk about our apprenticeship scheme and chat to aspiring students about the pathways available to working in a wide range of roles across the business.'

The apprenticeship scheme, lasting for 13 months, is suited for both school or college leavers and those looking for a new challenge as it provides an alternative to university.

Ms Singh said that degree-level apprenticeships are also on offer, taking three to four years to complete.

Those interested in starting a new career can get in touch by visiting the store or emailing jody.bayliss@specsavers.com.
