BROMSGROVE was given the Royal seal of approval from King Charles at a Buckingham Palace garden party.
One of the last appointments enjoyed by Bromsgrove District Council chairperson Sam Ammar was attending the first garden party of the year hosted by King Charles on Wednesday (May 8).
Accompanied by her husband and consort Mohammad Labban, the couple managed to snatch a quick word with the King.
Cllr Ammar said: “The King asked my husband where we had travelled from and he said a lovely place called Bromsgrove. The King agreed that Bromsgrove is indeed lovely.
“The whole event was absolutely wonderful and I felt so privileged to be there and represent Bromsgrove which I am proud to call home.”
Cllr Ammar’s civic year comes to an end this month and a golf tournament over the weekend will be her final fundraising event for the local branch of Age UK.
Around 8,000 people were in attendance for The Sovereign’s Garden Party on a sunny afternoon at Buckingham Palace.
King Charles, wearing a grey suit and light blue waistcoat and tie, smiled to the gathered crowd as he entered the garden from the palace’s Carnarvon Room.
He emerged alongside Camilla who wore a white silk dress by Fiona Clare and a hat by Philip Treacy, as well as a heart-shaped diamond brooch that belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The pair were also joined by the Princess Royal, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
It comes after King Charles returned to public-facing duties following his cancer diagnosis and marked the first anniversary of the King and Queen’s coronation.
