Two Worcestershire businesses have received a prestigious award from the King.

OOSC Clothing Limited and Slicker Recycling Limited have received the King’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category.

This annual accolade is only achieved by a select few, with 252 UK businesses receiving it this year.

22 businesses from across the West Midlands region have grabbed the honour this year.

OOSC's award highlights short-term growth in overseas sales over a three-year period.

Based in Worcester and London, the company aims to be the global top dog of retro-inspired, sustainably fashioned activewear.

Nick Marsden, co-founder and director of OOSC, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to have won the Kings Award for International trade.

"OOSC is now sold to over 110 different countries worldwide and it's truly awesome to get Royal approval for all our efforts in selling our sustainably made skiwear.

"We put so much effort into the business and to have this kind of recognition is amazing."

He added: "We look forward to the Royals wearing some OOSC on the mountain soon."

Meanwhile, Slicker, which is based in Stourport, offers an eco-friendly global option for waste oil recycling.

Laura Carter, joint managing director, said: "This is without a doubt one of the proudest moments of my career."

She added: "They constantly push innovative ideas, whilst grasping and adapting to constant change in the global market – helping to make us a leader in the collection and re-refinement of used lubricating oil."

Lord-Lieutenant of Worcestershire Beatrice Grant congratulated both businesses on receiving this sought-after Award.

She said: "It is wonderful to see two Worcestershire businesses receive such recognition.

"Winning this Award offers businesses multiple benefits, including global recognition, a boost to staff morale and increased growth and I would encourage Worcestershire businesses to consider entering in the future."

The award, which is the most prestigious of its kind for UK business, was instituted by Royal Warrant in 1965, and celebrates accomplishments in innovation, international trade, sustainable development and promoting opportunity.

Later this year, the award and Grant of Appointment will be formally presented to the businesses by the Lord-Lieutenant.
