A TEAM of pub regulars will be taking on a 100-mile bike ride in support of Kidderminster Hospital's cancer treatment unit the Millbrook Suite.
On Sunday, May 26, a team of eight will be embarking on the 100-mile ride, starting at Kidderminster and venturing to Gloucester, and then back again.
The cycling team is made up of pub regulars from The Weavers Real Ale House and The Chester Tavern, with local brewery Fownd also supporting the cause.
A GoFundMe appeal has already raised more than £4,000.
The event has been organised by Sadie Gill, who in December 2022 received the devastating news that she had lung cancer and underwent surgery to remove one-third of her lung. It was an "extremely traumatic" time for her family and friends to see her go through.
As a thank you for saving her life, Sadie and her husband Dominic, along with family and friends, wanted to do something to pay back the NHS.
Many of the team have friends and family who have recently been and continue to be treated at Millbrook Suite.
Mrs Gill said: "It's life-saving. So many people in Kidderminster know someone who's been treated there.
"It’s a very well-respected unit in our local community and this is a brilliant way to say a thank you to the NHS directly whilst being able to know that anything raised can be invested directly into their facilities and equipment".
The Weavers Real Ale House and The Chester Tavern will also be hosting a 100-mile static bike riding competition, which Mrs Gill will be taking part in. The team is anticipating the ride to take around eight hours.
