FOLLOWING reports this week regarding a massive cannabis factory found in town, I have forwarded to the Chief Constable a few ideas I’ve had regarding derelict and abandoned buildings.
I have suggested that in co-operation with other partner agencies that the electricity, gas and water supplies be severed at street level, rendering such buildings of little or no value to the criminal fraternity.
In forwarding these suggestions, I have asked the chief to liaise through the Association of Chief Police Officers to make combined representations to the Home Office and the policing minister to have legislation enacted to bring these ideas in to law.
