A TWO-year-old girl was rushed to hospital via air ambulance after being bitten by a dog.
West Mercia Police said she suffered "serious facial injuries" in the attack, which happened at an address on Orchard Square in Highley on Wednesday (August 14).
Officers were called out to the attack at around 4.15pm and said the girl's injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
The incident was contained to a property and there was not, or thought to be any continuing, risk to the wider public.
The breed of the dog has not been disclosed by police, but they confirmed that it has been removed from the property.
Detective Inspector Jo Delahay, said: “This is an incredibly sad incident, but I’d like to offer reassurance that the dog has now been removed from the property and therefore poses no further risk to the public.”
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to an incident at a private address off High Street in Highley just after 4pm.
"An ambulance, paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a female child with serious injuries.
"She was conveyed via land ambulance to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
