A HISTORIAN will give a talk on the Channel Islands' Second World War occupation.
Dr Mark Baldwin will speak about the islands' wartime history at an event hosted by the Wyre Forest and District Centre of the National Trust.
The illustrated talk, which will take place on Tuesday, May 13, in the Blakedown Parish Rooms at 7.30pm, will delve into the islands' strategic importance to Hitler, who aimed to demonstrate the UK's vulnerability by making them an impregnable fortress.
Dr Baldwin, who has explored various wartime installations in Jersey, Guernsey, and Alderney, will also discuss the survival of numerous fortifications as a result of their unassailed status.
His research sheds light on the role these islands played in the broader context of the war and the eventual liberation of Europe.
The talk is open to all, with no need for pre-paid tickets; entry is £3 at the door.
