The town council has shared a selection of photos from the VE Day event in Bewdley last week.

The town celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE Day with crowds gathering for an outdoor service outside St Anne’s Church.

Bewdley Town Council organised the event, attended by representatives of local organisations, councillors and past town mayors.

Local residents also gathered outside the church just after 8.30pm on Thursday (May 8).

Councillor Ian Latimer, Mayor of Bewdley, read the VE Day tribute and Councillor Paul Harrison, Vice-chairman of Wyre Forest District Council, read the VE Day proclamation, followed by a group singing of "I Vow to Thee My Country".

The Mayor concluded the event with a lighting of the beacon.
