KIDDERMINSTER'S Rose Theatre is gearing up for a month-long takeover by young performers.

Kidderminster Operatic and Dramatic Society's youth section are celebrating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II by staging Blitz by Lionel Bart.

Set in 1940, the story portrays the East End of London enduring relentless bombing, focusing on Mrs Blitztein, her family, and their interactions with neighbours and authorities.

The show runs from Thursday, June 26 to Saturday, June 28, including a Saturday matinee.

In July, the spotlight turns to KRYPT (Kidderminster Rose Young People's Theatre) with their production of To Be A(I) Human.

This play, crafted by the senior company, explores the evolving relationship between humanity and artificial intelligence.

Audiences are invited to delve into a world where the boundaries between human and machine become indistinct.

The performances are scheduled for Saturday, July 12 at 7.30pm and Sunday, July 13 at 2.30pm.

Talking Props Theatre Arts will then present Les Misérables, in a special adaptation for youth performers, running from Tuesday, July 15 to Saturday, July 19, with a Saturday matinee at 2pm.

The theatre's summer calendar doesn't end there, as the KRYPT summer school returns from July 21 to 25.

This year’s theme is KRYPTic Casefiles, offering young people aged eight to 18 the chance to delve into the world of crime drama through theatre games, activities and scripting.

The week concludes with a celebratory performance for family and friends on the Friday night at 5pm.
