A drama group in Kidderminster are marking the 80th anniversary of the Second World War with a performance of a powerful and poignant musical.
Kidderminster Operatic and Dramatic Youth Section (KODYS) is proud to present "Blitz!", the powerful and poignant musical by Lionel Bart, running from June 26 to June 28 at the Rose Theatre in Kidderminster.
This very special production marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, commemorating the courage, resilience, and spirit of those who lived through the Blitz.
Set during the London Blitz of World War II, "Blitz!" brings to life the resilience, romance, and community spirit of those who lived through one of the most challenging times in British history.
With stirring music, heartwarming stories, and vivid characters, this production showcases the immense talent of KODYS' young performers as they deliver an unforgettable theatrical experience.
Originally penned by Lionel Bart, the legendary composer behind "Oliver!", "Blitz!" is a rarely-performed gem that combines humour, drama, and a touching score to tell the story of two families caught in the turmoil of war and bound by love and conflict.
Director Scott Denton said: "Blitz! is not only a celebration of British tenacity, but also a moving reminder of the power of community and compassion, with a large dose of good old British humour. Our cast have worked incredibly hard to bring this story to life, and we can’t wait to share it with audiences."
KODYS, which has members aged 10 to 18 from across Wyre Forest and beyond, has been working hard rehearsing for the show following their previous successful performances of "Bugsy Malone" and a musical concert in January
Performances will run at The Rose Theatre in Kidderminster from Thursday, June 26 to Saturday, June 28 at 7.30pm.
