THE world-famous Flying Scotsman will be making a rare guest appearance at the Severn Valley Railway this week - and there are plenty of places to see it steam past.
All the tickets to travel on the train are sold out, but the heritage railway has said there are several spots where people can catch a glimpse of the legendary locomotive.
The Flying Scotsman will haul three return trips a day on Friday, July 25, and then on Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27, as part of the SVR’s Swingin’ Sixties event, which celebrates the 60th anniversary of the line in preservation.
The railway is reopening the full 16 miles of line for public services on Friday following the embankment collapse earlier in the year, allowing for travel from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth for the first time this season.
Flying Scotsman trains depart from Kidderminster for one round trip, not stopping at intermediate stations, at 9am, 1pm and 5.15pm on Friday.
The Severn Valley Railway has advised that people without tickets to the event will be able to see the Flying Scotsman at the following locations.
- Bewdley Station
- Arley Station
- Arley Arboretum
- Coombys Farm
- Highley Station & The Engine House
- Wellness Woodlands, Highley
- Severn Valley Country Park
- Hampton Loade Station
- Eardington Station
- Eardington Nature Reserve
The Severn Valley Railway said: "If you don’t have tickets to travel, there are plenty of places to see Flying Scotsman along the Severn Valley Railway, but please do not visit Kidderminster or Bridgnorth Station as access is restricted to ticket-holders only.
"Access to Northwood Halt and Country Park Halt is not advised".
