A much-loved heritage museum is set to temporarily reopen following discussions between trustees and volunteers.
The Carpet Museum Trust has confirmed the Museum of Carpet in Kidderminster will open during February half-term.
The plan to open follows the "great enthusiasm" and commitment expressed by volunteers and trustees to open the museum as much as possible in 2026.
As indicated in our last Press Release, the Carpet Museum Trust can confirm trustees and volunteers have met to discuss options for the Museum of Carpet in 2026.
Volunteers expressed great enthusiasm and commitment to open the Museum as much as possible in the coming months.
Chair of the Trustees Geoffrey Gilbert said: "The Carpet Museum Trust can confirm trustees and volunteers have met to discuss options for the Museum of Carpet in 2026.
"Volunteers expressed great enthusiasm and commitment to open the Museum as much as possible in the coming months."
The Museum will be open from 10am to 2pm on Saturday (February 14), Tuesday (February 17), Thursday (February 19) and Saturday (February 21).
Entry will be free but access to special events and talks may be charged extra.
The news comes following the closure of the Museum in December 2025.
The site at Stour Vale Mill had been serving the public for 13 years, but had faced "significant" financial challenges in recent years, making it "unsustainable" to continue its operations at its current site.
Talks are ongoing to explore the future development and funding of the site with the Trust thanking the community in the "fight to provide Kidderminster with a Museum its heritage justly deserves".
Geoffrey Gilbert said: "Discussions continue on support and funding for the development of a new Museum for Kidderminster.
"It is hoped that a statement of how this will progress will be made in the next few weeks.
"Thank you once more for all the support and good wishes for the fight to provide Kidderminster with a Museum its heritage justly deserves."
