GARDENERS' WORLD favourite Monty Don has been flooded with messages of support following his announcement of the death of his beloved elderly dog, Peggy.
She will be buried in the garden of his Longmeadow home.
The celebrity gardener, who is 70, said she was just shy of 16 years old and had died peacefully at his home in Herefordshire.
He announced on his social media feed: " Peggy died yesterday. She was an old lady - a few weeks short of her 16th birthday- and went as she had lived, gently and without fuss.
"She was eccentric, quirky, infinitely gentle and loving and will be missed terribly. She is now buried in the coppice alongside Nigel and Nell and the other dogs."
Monty Don is known for his gentle presenting style, empathy and his love of his dogs.
