A HOUSING developer is making room for nature with bird boxes, bat boxes and hedgehog highways.
Barratt Homes has announced a range of wildlife-friendly features at The Pearls, its Stourport-on-Severn development, as part of its environmental commitments.
The site will include 185 bird and bat boxes, 291 new trees, 22 wildflower meadows and 1,266 metres of hedgehog highways.
Joanne Winston, sales director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said: "As a leading developer, we must do all we can to help welcome neighbouring nature into our new communities.
"We see it as our responsibility to help preserve the environment which is why we invest months of planning into our developments to ensure wildlife, as well as people, have new homes."
The project will also deliver around 15 acres of open space, two log piles are in place for hibernating wildlife and over 24,000 new sapling hedgerows are being planted.
Homes in the development will be built with timber frames, and a total of 211 electric car charging points will be included on the development.
Barratt Homes has partnered with the RSPB since 2014 to improve biodiversity on its sites.
A range of two, three and four-bedroom homes are currently available for sale at The Pearls, with prices starting from £244,995.
