The face of a man jailed for 14 years for attempting to murder his former partner has been released.
Max Drapkin, aged 37, of Mike Oborski Close, Kidderminster, was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court today (Friday, May 22).
At an earlier hearing, Drapkin pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation.
He was then convicted on on Thursday (May 21) following a trial of attempting to murder his former partner, Katie Knott.
The verdict came after almost 20 hours of deliberation by the jury, which initially retired on Friday (May 15).
The majority verdict was agreed upon by 10 jurors and dissented by 2 jurors.
Drapkin attended his former partner’s address, where he grabbed her by the neck and pushed her to the floor.
He then dragged her into the kitchen, continuing to strangle her before striking her to the head.
She was taken to hospital with injuries to her head and eye.
The victim was able to flee her attacker climbing out of a window bare foot onto broken glass to seek help from neighbours.
Detective Constable Annabelle Davis said: "This was a vicious and unprovoked attack, which would have been terrifying for the victim. I would like to commend her for her bravery in coming forward to support the investigation, ensuring a violent offender is put behind bars."
In a victim impact statement Drapkin’s former partner said: "I am devastated that everything that happened that night would tarnish any future I may have. I fear I will never be allowed to forget what happened to me and move on.
"Going to court to attend the trial was extremely difficult for me. It took weeks of support from my friends to build up the courage to stand up in front of strangers to talk about something that has deeply affected me personally in many ways."
