A KIDDERMINSTER karate club has raised £200 for a children’s heart charity after running a knife awareness course with West Midlands Police.

Young Gloves Karate hosted the session on Sunday, June 14, offering teenagers and adults practical advice on staying safe, spotting warning signs and avoiding dangerous situations on the streets.

The course is part of the club’s ongoing work to promote community safety and support good causes.

Money raised on the day will go to Tiny Tickers, taking Young Gloves Karate’s total for the charity to £1,160.

Since it was founded in 1999, the club has raised around £85,000 for children’s charities.

Founder Justin Thomas BEM said the aim was to give people the 'knowledge and confidence to make safer choices and avoid dangerous situations'.

He said: "We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and supported the course, helping us raise vital funds for Tiny Tickers while strengthening our local community."
