A temporary 30mph speed limit has been put in place on the A456 near Bewdley.

The temporary speed limit, which came into effect yesterday (Tuesday, June 23), is in place along a stretch of the A456 Long Bank from its junction with Church Lane.

According to Bewdley Town Council, this temporary speed limit has been put in place due to an 'electricity fault' and the likelihood of 'danger to the public or serious damage to the road'.

The temporary speed limit has been introduced for a maximum of 21 days, however, the council says that it is anticipated that it will remain in force for 4 days.

A spokesperson for Bewdley Town Council said: "The effect of this Notice is that no vehicle shall proceed along that part of A456 Long Bank at a speed exceeding 30 mph from its junction with Church Lane for a distance of 300 metres in a south westerly direction.

"This provision shall continue in force for a maximum of 21 days.

"However, it is anticipated that it will remain in force for 4 days (24 hours) commencing on June 23, 2026.

"Nothing in this Notice shall prevent at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the highway, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from and only from the highway."
