YOUNG swimmers in Kidderminster have been helping to raise funds for a much‑loved local swimming pool.
Three and four‑year‑olds from Little Trinity Nursery took part in Holy Trinity School’s Swimathon 2026 during their weekly lessons, collectively swimming an impressive 601 widths.
Every child completed at least 20 widths, with some managing 26, and their efforts have already raised more than £200 towards the school’s pool refurbishment fund.
Nursery manager Gaynor Carter said staff were 'incredibly proud' of the children.
She said regular use of the pool had shown how swimming builds confidence, teaches vital water skills and helps children develop from an early age, and that the Swimathon was a 'fantastic way' for them to challenge themselves while supporting a facility that means so much to them.
The Swimathon involves pupils from Reception to Year 9, alongside staff and community users, all contributing towards a wider £200,000 project to upgrade the pool.
Planned improvements include a new heating system, better flooring and cubicles, and new equipment to secure the pool’s future.
Swimming teacher Paula Crocker said each child was encouraged to swim as many widths as possible within their lesson time, praising the determination and enthusiasm shown by Little Trinity Nursery and other pupils.
She added that involving the whole school community, from the youngest swimmers to staff, had generated 'fantastic' support.
The Swimathon has already attracted strong backing, with Holy Trinity Fundraisers pledging £5 per participating child, alongside support from Wyre Forest Swimming Club and local schools.
