RESIDENTS have shared their opinions on a Channel 5 star's 'honest' verdict on Kidderminster's High Street.
Property tycoon Rick Gannon, who starred in the Channel 5 show Rich House Poor House, visited Kidderminster on Monday (June 29) as part of his 'Death of the high street' social media series.
As part of this series, Gannon visits towns and cities, explores their high streets, and highlights closed-down businesses and empty retail units.
In the latest instalment of 'Death of the high street' filmed in Kidderminster, Gannon said that he 'wasn't prepared' for what he found in the town and was 'bowled over' by the amount of empty shops.
In response to Gannon's opinion of Kidderminster's town centre, residents have given their own verdict on the town's high street.
Roderick Shaw said: "He called it as he saw it, a good honest opinion of our depressing town."
Stephen Hodgetts said: "Since the cost of parking rose in the Weavers Wharf Car Park, I've never been into town. It's not inviting, it's not welcoming, and I have no reason to go there."
Elaine Hall said: "Kidderminster town centre will never be the same again, and it has to change as towns are changing. People don’t and won’t shop as they used to. Bring in more diverse shops and things to do. Kidderminster, as a town, is vibrant."
Carole Allsop said: "I just don't go to the town centre. No need to. With the cost of fuel to get there, plus parking, it all must be factored into the cost of your shopping. It all adds up."
