WORCESTERSHIRE County Council has confirmed that there is no official reopening date for a Kidderminster road that has been closed by a sinkhole.

The sinkhole appeared last week (Wednesday 15 July) on Sutton Road and led to the road being closed.

Worcestershire County Council confirmed that it was made aware of the 'void' on Wednesday evening and closed the road to traffic.

The cause of the sinkhole is yet to be established, and in their latest update on the closure of Sutton Road, Worcestershire County Council confirmed that there is no official reopening date for the affected road.

Repair work is being carried out so that the road can be reopened 'as quickly as possible', the council has said.

A Worcestershire County Council spokesperson said: "The road has been closed to traffic whilst we work with utility companies to ensure this repair work is completed as quickly as possible."
