KIDDERMINSTER'S outgoing town mayor has raised more than £6,000 for three local and environmental charities during his year in office.
Councillor Doug Hine’s 2025–26 mayoral appeal brought in a total of £6,190.68 for the Mayor’s Charity Fund.
The sum will be shared equally between his chosen causes, with Kidderminster & District Youth Trust, Worcestershire Wildlife Trust and Kidderminster Foodbank each receiving £2,063.56.
Kidderminster & District Youth Trust has been supporting and empowering local young people for around 60 years, providing safe spaces, activities and one-to-one support.
Worcestershire Wildlife Trust is the county’s leading wildlife charity, managing nature reserves, protecting habitats and running events to help people connect with nature.
Kidderminster Foodbank supports people in crisis with emergency food and essentials, as well as signposting families to advice services such as Citizens Advice.
Cllr Hine said: “I am thrilled to have played my part in raising over £6,000 for the Mayor's Charity Fund during my term of 2025-26.
"I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the fundraising, by attending one of my events or donating and to council staff, who provide essential support.
"Special thanks go to Keith Horsfall and the Gig Caritas Orchestra and Choir who raised a significant sum with a powerful performance of The Armed Man with only refreshments for payment.
“A huge thank you to everyone who attended the mayor’s charity events, donated, or supported fundraising throughout the year.
“Your generosity has made a real difference and will help these three fantastic local charities continue their valuable work in our community.”
