A prolific Stourport shoplifter has been convicted of 24 offences and sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.

Damian Badger, 36, of Hermitage Way in Stourport, appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday (July 24).

He was ordered to pay £1,355.74 in compensation, complete a six-month non-residential drug rehabilitation course, and carry out 20 hours of unpaid work.

Marc Ginder, a police constable with the Stourport Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

"As a result of a team effort from the Bewdley and Stourport Safer Neighbourhood officers and the interview team at Kidderminster Police Station, Badger was charged and remanded into police custody for all 24 offences and swiftly sentenced at court the next day.

"Any further offences by him will see him brought back before the courts, where his suspended sentence could turn into a custodial sentence.

"We take offences of shoplifting seriously and will always act to bring such offenders to justice."
