The managers at a pub in Kidderminster have announced they will be leaving at the end of the year.

Abby Lawson and Chris Hartland took the helm of The Hare and Hounds almost two years ago and described their time at the pub as "incredible".

The pair took over the Stourbridge Road pub in Broadwaters in 2024 with the aim of turning its reputation around.

They have now made the sad announcement that they will be leaving the pub in November, but they will be handing over the reins to someone new who they hope will continue to make the Hare and Hare "as special as it has become to them".

Abby and Chris said: "As some of you may have already heard, the rumours are true, we have decided to step down from the Hare & Hounds and will be leaving on November 2.

"We will be handing the pub over to someone new, and we truly hope they can continue to make the Hare & Hounds as special as it has become to us.

"It’s incredibly difficult to put the last two years into words. What started as a pub has become so much more than that. We’ve had the best two years, made memories that will stay with us forever and, most importantly, met some absolutely fantastic people along the way."

The managers have shared their appreciation for everyone who has supported them over the years.

They said they are "proud" of the community they have created and they hope people will continue supporting the pub in the future.

They said: "Whether you were an old familiar face, someone who walked through our doors for the very first time, a regular, someone who came along to an event, or simply someone who supported us from afar - thank you.

"Thank you for supporting us, believing in us and helping make the Hare & Hounds what it has been.

"From the bottomless brunches, Bongo Bingos, live music, parties, family days, summer festivals, Christmas celebrations, quizzes, karaoke, sports nights and everything in between, we have genuinely loved every minute of it.

"The laughs, the celebrations, the madness, the difficult days, the big nights and all the little moments in between - being part of this community has been truly unforgettable."

Abby and Chris have still got three months packed with incredible events.

There will be a farewell party on Halloween on Saturday (October 31).

It will be free entry with no tickets needed.

Abby and Chris said: "We want to go out in true Hare & Hounds style and make this one of our biggest and best nights yet. It’s Halloween, so you know the drill - get dressed up.

"Gather your friends, get your costumes ready and come and celebrate the end of an era with us.

"There will be plenty of laughs, plenty of memories and hopefully one final unforgettable night together.

"So from both of us, thank you, thank you, thank you for an absolutely incredible two years.

"We genuinely couldn’t have done it without every single one of you. Here’s to the memories we’ve made, the memories still to come and one hell of a party to finish this chapter."
