PEOPLE are invited to gather to remember loved ones at KEMP Hospice’s annual butterfly release.

The Wyre Forest charity is hosting the event at Bodenham Arboretum on Saturday, September 12, offering families and friends the chance to dedicate and release a live butterfly in memory of someone special.

This marks the fifth year of the event, which is open to all, regardless of whether their loved one was cared for by KEMP.

Ian Carr, head of fundraising and communications at KEMP Hospice said: "Grief doesn't have a timetable, and many people tell us they simply want somewhere to remember the person they love.

"The butterfly release gives people that opportunity.

"It is a peaceful, uplifting event where families and friends can come together to celebrate lives, share memories and watch the butterflies take flight.

"It is an incredibly emotional moment, but also one filled with hope and reflection."

Set against the scenic backdrop of the arboretum, the morning will include live music from the West Midlands Concert Band, creating a reflective atmosphere before the mass release of butterflies.

Each butterfly represents a life remembered, and each dedication supports KEMP Hospice’s care for people with life-limiting illnesses, including counselling and bereavement services for individuals of all ages across Wyre Forest.

The event is open to anyone wishing to honour a loved one.

Those unable to attend can still dedicate a butterfly, which will be released on their behalf by the KEMP team.

Every donation made through the butterfly release helps KEMP Hospice continue to offer its services free of charge to those who need them.

People can arrive for the event from 10am.

The event is sponsored by Gaunts of Kidderminster.

KEMP Hospice supports people in the Wyre Forest with life-limiting conditions, providing specialist care, emotional support and bereavement counselling for patients and their families.
