STAFF members at a major supermarket in Kidderminster are aiming to battle food poverty by moving more than 600 miles as part of a national campaign.

Staff at the Sainsbury's superstore in Kidderminster, which is located on Carpet Trades Way, are taking part in the 'Move for Meals' campaign for Comic Relief.

The campaign involves Sainsbury's staff across the region and the UK, and has seen the major supermarket chain raise over £188 million for Comic Relief since 2022.

According to Sainsbury's, in 2026 the supermarket chain is aiming to raise £6 million, which is enough to donate 12 million meals to children and families in the UK.

As part of the 'Move for Meals' campaign, staff members at the Sainsbury's in Kidderminster are aiming to move more than 600 miles, and have already completed cycling and rowing challenges as well as climbing Mount Snowdon.

The challenge began in July and will conclude on Monday, August 31.

According to Natalie Jacombs, store manager at Sainsbury's Kidderminster, staff at the store are on track to raise £1,500 by the end of the campaign.

Natalie said: “Food insecurity is a reality for far too many children and families across the UK.

“Sainsbury's Kidderminster is taking part in the nationwide Sainsbury's Move for Meals colleague fundraising campaign, where we are 'moving' to raise money to support this brilliant cause.

“Our aim is to 'move' 600 miles across the campaign, which is the distance between all our stores in the region.

“We have done this through rowing and cycling as well as climbing Mount Snowdon. Colleague and customer support have been brilliant, and we are on our way to raising £ 1,500 as a store by the end of the campaign.

“Every pound we raise will be matched by Sainsbury's, doubling the impact and helping Comic Relief fund meals for children and families across the UK who need them most.”
