A new trial rail service has launched, marking a return to passenger trains between Bewdley and Birmingham.
The service connects to Birmingham and Bewdley via Kidderminster and will run every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for eight weeks.
It is the first commuter service on the line in 56 years.
The trial is a partnership between the Severn Valley Railway and West Midlands Railway.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Railway said "Tickets can be purchased from Bewdley ahead of the morning departures. They are also available at WMR ticket offices."
A spokesperson for the DMU Group, a charitable incorporated organisation, who operate eight heritage diesel railcars at the Severn Valley Railway said:
"Today marks the start of our exciting heritage commuter trial service between Bewdley and Birmingham - 56 years since the line closed to commuters!"
"Working in partnership with West Midlands Rail Executive and the Severn Valley Railway, we’re delighted to launch this new weekday service, enabling residents of Bewdley and wider areas to travel by train to Birmingham, Worcester and beyond, with just a short convenient connection at Kidderminster."
"Operating every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the trial will run for eight weeks from today, 1 September 2026, helping to explore how heritage railways can support local communities and provide sustainable transport links."
"A huge thank you to everyone who has helped make this trial possible. We look forward to welcoming passengers aboard and hearing their feedback over the coming weeks."
Passengers travelling from Birmingham to Bewdley will see a 16-20 minute wait at Kidderminster where they must walk just 1 minute from the Severn Valley Railway heritage station to the West Midlands Railway station.
