ITEMS said to be linked to the Knights Templar are set to go on public display at a one-day event in Kidderminster.
Relic collector and television presenter Hamilton White will bring pieces from his collection to The Church Venue in Church Street on Saturday, September 12.
The event, titled Lost Relics of the Knights Templar – Live with Hamilton White, will run from 9.30am to 5.30pm and include a rare-book fair, talks and opportunities to meet speakers.
Organisers say the display will include chalices, carved stonework, weapons from the Crusader era and other objects claimed to have been connected with the medieval religious and military order.
Mr White featured in the Sky History series Lost Relics of the Knights Templar, which followed his work with fellow collector Carl Cookson as they investigated objects believed to have links to the order.
The collection, sometimes referred to as the Tomar Hoard, is said to have been originally discovered in Tomar, Portugal — a location associated with the Knights Templar — before being reassembled by Mr White from items sold separately.
However, the provenance and claimed Templar connection of privately held artefacts should be treated with caution unless independently verified by qualified archaeological or museum experts.
An optional informal dinner will follow from 6pm to 7.30pm.
Ticket numbers are limited and are available through The Church Venue’s booking system.
The Knights Templar were a medieval Catholic military order founded around 1119 during the Crusades. Originally formed to protect Christian pilgrims travelling to Jerusalem, they became a powerful force with land, wealth and influence across Europe and the Holy Land.
